The clients on this job had very different style preferences. One enjoyed a relaxed southwest bohemian style with a penchant for orange while the other enjoyed an almost surgical uniformity in colors and clean lines. The kitchen had dark charcoal cabinets and stone veneer backsplash before. It was very dark and depressing. Both clients agreed that they wanted a bright and happy kitchen that functioned well.  I used high gloss white, flat front cabinets to amplify the light and to offer unadorned clean lines. The clean lines of the cabinets balances well with the patterned backsplash with lots of color, especially orange which I used for the pantry cabinet. I wanted the pantry cabinet to look like a piece of furniture giving the space some character. I changed up the tile on that side of the kicthen to a geometric style but kept the color in a uniform white.  The space is calm but has character. Most importantly it functions well with the pantry cabinet offering lots of storage for appliances, two blind corner cabinets for optimizing space and adequate prep space on either side of the range.  There is plenty of oppurtunites to decorate the open shelves with collected pottery or plants to make it feel personal. This kitchen has a nice balance of warm and cool colors so as not to overwhelm, it fits with the style and age of the home and is personal to the clients' style.
